How to do it?
Have a show with Calli tomorrow and her mane is just...wild.
It is really thick at the base and really thin at the end. This is my fault as i used a rake on it

She will not let you pull it. The only way we can is to probably sedate her but we obviously can't do it before tomorrow.
Mum and I did try to pull it a bit tonight but had an awful experience with her. She probably wont let us plait up tomorrow!
Any here are some pics to give you a better idea.

Have you got a lycra hood?
They are brilliant at laying an unruly mane, as is brylcreme, gel for helping it to stay once the hood is off etc. If she really wont let you near, at least you could make it look 'groomed'.

Tight tight plaits, use a damp sponge to wet each section down then do seriously seriously tight. You need to do more than the norm, but because it is showing, you dont want to be doing more than 15 really....tight will be your best bet!! Good luck, she is looking good!

Yes we do have a lycra hood but my mum is paranoid and wont put it on her....
I'm still trying to convince her to let me tie Calli up!

KatB Will give that a try. Class is only later in the afternoon so can have a few practices in the morning and see what looks best.
Wish me luck and thanks for the comments everyone

Allow lots of time and do tiny plaits. Thinking 25+

Please not that many for showing - 13 at absoloute maximum or it'll look like you're off to a dressage comp.

I have one the same, and just make sure I use lots of water and get the plait really really tight all the way down and sew as tightly as possible. If you've got any hair gel some people find that helps, though if it's coloured, be careful on the white bits!

If I was doing that class I would do fewer plaits and not too tight, if they are tight it will hurt, just sew the bobble itself tight.
