erm just a few questions:
when should you plait when hunting, is it just lawn meets or every time if possible?
also, my pony is an M&M with a medium length but quite thick mane, do i have to plait this? I always plait his tail up becuase i dont want it getting ripped out on a bush, but do i have to plait his mane as well?

If you can do a tail you can do a running plait down the mane (same plait). You need to do them quite tight as they tend to pop out (especially if mane is thick and not very long).

It depends on your hunt, some are stricter on turnout than others (where I hunt they're happy to see you, plaited or not at any meet, but others you need to plait for every meet etc). Contacting the secretary is probably your best bet if you want to be correct for your hunt.

Strictly speaking if it's a lawn meet then yes you should plait. At other times it is up to the individual. Tails remain unplaited.

However, if your horse is well turned out, looks smart and clean many hunts won't be too upset if you decide not to plait your native.
