Does anyone plait there horses tail the night before a show, does it stay in?? Any tips?

Got an early start show on Sunday, and want to do as much preperation the night before, i.e plaiting her mane. Just wondered if it was worth while me plaiting her tail night before 2??

I used to plait my tails the night before, just make sure you put loads of hair spray on it then put a tail bandage over the top of it to keep it in over night.

Don't bother! Always all rubbed and horrid and it's too long a time to bandage. I've given up doing mane night before as it never looks the same

I have a beautiful mare who always kept hers in, never had a problem with it, was never messy, TBH her plaits on her mane are always my bugbear. Never plaited any of the others, I dont like hair, so I tend to pull them

Plait tail and spray with hair spray - I don't normally bandage till the morning (just pick out any shavings first). Plait main, but don't roll up plaits till the morning. Always works for me, just give yourselve a bit of extra time for any emergency repairs!!!!!!

do it all the time, never had problem with any of my horses. The thing i do is plait tail damp, not over tight, then tail bandage, then if real need placed on extra tail bandage or even vet wrap.

If you are plaiting it tightly enough then it may be a bit uncomfortable for your horse. THey may rub it and you will lose bits of the tail that you probably need for plaiting! It only takes 10 minutes so get up a bit earlier and do it in the morning!

I wouldn't, horses always tend to rub the tails when plaited overnight and you end up with a big loo brush......sorry its going to be an early start

I have done tails the night before, but i always think they look better when they are done in the morning, but im too lazy to do it anymore, so id rather pull! I quite often plait my horses mane the night before... he's never tried to rub them out yet, and they always look just as good the morning after
