Plaiting the night before?

Does anyone do this? I left some plaits in overnight when I was staying away at a show and they were OK. Because the horse was already there it didn't put him off his feed, but I wonder about doing it at home. Will he worry all night or just be normal?

It doesn't take me too long to plait, but I just seem to get in a state if I have to leave early in the mornings.

I do , then the get covered in tight then her body suit goes on . I always plait the night before even if they are re-done / fixed in the morning .

Wont do it as dont think they look as good and can cause tension in neck. Just my opinion though

I do. However this is horrible BTW. Someone told me that when she worked at the hunt, obviously horses came in that had died when plaited and their necks were bruised.

Yuk. I'm surprised, surely if plaiting was that uncomfortable no-one would plait for dressage, yet everyone does.
When something dies the blood pools, was it that?

Thanks for your comments anyway.

I thought I would be told just to get up earlier, so it is quite comforting to find out that quite a few people plait the night before.

i plait the night before if i have to leave very early, but i don't do them tight at the base, i do them tight from the 2nd fold-over onwards, if that makes sense.
i don't do the forelock the night before though, always leave that till the morning. if they're tight and hurt then the horse will try to rub them out.

I plait the night before if it is an early start, but dont roll them up till the morning. I find this is less likely to cause the horse to rub. I leave the forelock till the morning.

I always plait down the night before if its an early start. Then you just need to roll up. If I compete in the afternoon I turn out first thing for a couple of hours so do him when he comes in. I always feed Biotal Gold on the morning of a comp as well as usual evening dose so he doesn't tend to get too upset.

I always plait the night before as I have arthritic fingers and it takes me ages - also mornings are not good.

I leave the forelock tho as Gen hates that being done (we compete with it out as well).

I put a Rambo sweetitch hoody on Gen and this keeps the plaits nice and tidy and actually helps to lay the spikey hairs down.

hi as we are on the topic does any one know of a day to day material that you can put on or around the plats to stop them coming out over night by the way?:):)
