Plaiting with White Tape for Dressage

Why do we use the tape for dressage? wats the purpose of it? to improve appearence?

I cant find anything about it in any books or on the internet. Thanks

Some people think it looks nice - I think in most cases it looks tacky

Because it looks nice, especially on a plain coloured horse without much white of its own!

I think it's mainly a european thing, and not done much over here.

I think it's really good

And I do think it makes the plain coloured horses stand out a bit more.

=] thanks guys. I hav no opinion on it really, guess its traditional. Think it defo suits some horses more than others but if i did dressage id give it ago =]

It was fashionable a few years ago but is being seen less and less. I really think it looks horrible. I did 4 and a half hours dressage writing yesterday and didn't see any at all!

see less of it, but done properly it can really "lift" a plain horse or give the illumination of a better muscled neck

hmm i see more europeans wearing it. i think it looks really cheap and tacky imo, but each to there own!

It seems to be going out of fashion, I watch a lot of affiliated dressage and rarely see it.

I personally think that the lovely folded over large plaits that Carl Hester and others have look so much classier.
