plaiting with white tape

Hi
Does anyone use white tape when plaiting? one of my horses refuses to have his mane pulled so have ended up solo combing it, whilst it looks fine loose (although does stick up vertically!) when i try and plait it i get loads of spikey bits sticking out!

My friend always uses white tape on hers and they look really smart, and i think this would solve my spikey problem, however is this a bit OTT? he is only a youngster so will only be doing prelims and novices.

Any advice appreciated!

Some people do still use white tape for dressage but it seems to have gone out of fashion a bit.

If you can do it well and it suits your horse, then go for it

If the tape isn't put on correctly it can look messier though tbh.
