i think i have figured out what i want to do. After realising that i couldnt stop riding as it means too much to me, ive decided in a year when i leave school im going to sell zak and buy a new horse and start competing at a higher level(atm we are only doing PC stuff etc) Unfortunately Zak isnt really up to the dressage at a higher level so i will have to let him go

Im going to take new horse to Uni(if i find one that is!), im thinking of going to Hartpury. Any thoughts or comments etc very very appreciated if you think its the right way to go. Sorry im just kind of pouring out the thoughts in my head!!p.s these are very generalised thoughts!

I was thinking about doing the same sort of thing, but i don't think i've reached Hemir's full talent yet...so im gonna keep going with him, mum and dad said that they might buy me a youngster, and then i can still keep Hemir...i'm not sure about what to do either but if you want to go higher and further in your hose career, do what is best for you...thats all i can say!!

I got some really nasty comments when i posted the same sot of question on a French one.....(when you buy a horse it's for life...you can't just sell it when it doesn't do the job you wanted it for....obviously horse riding isn't your passion, it's just a sport!!)

I've got a dream that one day i would like to go round Badminton...i know it's a long way away, but i won't get there with Hemir and i need to work HARD!!! I knew when emi that i wasn't going to keep him forever....but he just seemed right at the time we were buying, and a hell of a lot of people told e i was doing the right thing!! Buti think i did the right thing!!

ok so all this to say....it's your choice and if you want to event at a highe level then you do what is best for you!!

thanks C_H, yeh i dont even have the choice of working on Zak as he is 14 now, and probs wont learn a huge deal more, and i just dont think he would enjoy it-he loves his local comps and hates the dressage so i think it would be in his best interest too. Life is so hard, and im not even half way through yet!

just because you sell a horse on it doesn't mean you are abandoning it or letting it down - there are hundreds of people out there looking to buy what you have- they will love your horse as much as you - lets face it the majority of us treat our horses like babies, they have the best that we can afford and all the time we can afford so dont feel guilty about letting some one else love your horse too! - hope that helps X
