Planning advice for arena

I am hoping to have an arena installed this spring, we have sourced a supplied, decided on a surface ect but I am hoping to get advice on the planning application.
It would be great to know if anyone has put the application in without the use of an architect?
If so it would be brilliant to know what information you supplied, if there were any sticking points ect?

We recently did. My Husband filled the endless documents in online. We had to provide cross section drawings and diagrams for the school. These were all provided by the guy who did the work for us.
We were advised not to ask for lights as although we live in the middle of nowhere, often planning is refused when lighting is involved.
It was fairly straightforward but took at least 6 weeks to go through.
They also visited us to have a look.
