Just stumbled across this on Twitter posted by Animal Adoptions UK asking for people to object to a puppy farm expansion planning permission application:

Urgent, please take a few seconds to sign a letter in the link below against the expansion of a puppy farm in #NorthernIreland. 1152 breeding dogs could be kept here. This puppy farm already has 900 breeding dogs! The puppies will be distributed across the #UK and further afield. What quality of life can they have? You can sign outside Northern Ireland just click on ' Enter Manually ' when it asks for your postcode. The many thousands of puppies farmed here, will be destined for the UK, where our shelters are already so full, unwanted dogs are being euthanised by owners and pounds. We already have more dogs than homes. They ask for comments about why you are objecting to the expansion of this puppy farm, you could state that dogs are being euthanised by owners and pounds across the UK as we already have too many dogs and more puppies will add to the huge stress UK rescues are already under and that you believe there will be poor quality of life for dogs in such a big facility, dogs being sentient, companion animals. Please sign here, takes seconds ……………https://planningregister.planningsystemni.gov.uk/application/132696/add-comment?fbclid=IwAR3qSmNOM9uJAMEhOTMtRG93waxg2QvF64Aa6q1zsSzbLMH8JOZxYZ8ZkBg………

For anyone commenting, make sure the comments point out why the proposal is contrary to existing laws/legislation/planning principles and cite them if possible...give figures of euthanasia per annum or numbers of dogs held in pounds or rescues...saying 'I don't agree with this' won't hold any weight as an objection. Things like stating that the sewer network is at capacity, for example, will have more bearing.

Also...if people didn't buy puppies from puppy farms or their fronts...cheap/readily available sources, online ads etc, these places would not exist. The 'throwing the starfish back into the sea/just saving one because it looked so poorly/adorable' feeds the industry, unfortunately.
