Hello, does anyone have any advice regarding preparing a planning application for an outdoor arena.

I am shortly going to be preparing our application and am doing it myself as we’re using private contractors to do the job rather than one of the companies that include doing the planning permission.

Does the council ask about vehicle access to the site for building works - the arena is only for private use so general access won’t be an issue.

What are common restrictions or objections given?

When we did the application for the stables we had drawings of the buildings from the stables people at a ratio of 1:100. I can’t imagine what this would look like for an arena - what information and measurements do you think they would need?

Any advice would be fantastic, many thanks.

traffic implications during use are always important ( during construction not so important) so if private shouldn't be too much problem , lighting can be if too near other properties can affect amenity .and if in open countryside, well.....affecting the night sky..you cant win.

better if screened., or offer to plant hedge....and near buildings.

my suggestion is to go and ask to see planning officers informally to discuss....preferably having downloaded some planning application forms from the Council website first.

HI

Ive just managed to get planning for an out door arena and wasnt asked about vehicle access. The planners were really helpful and just wanted it screened with natural hedgerow.
We did all our drawings ourselves, you will need to submit a cross section of the school which shoes drainage, hardcore and surface depths. You can print one off of the web. Have a look under 'building your own arena' there are quite a few to choose from.
We used the same site plan drawings that we had done for the stables and just marked the school on to those.
Let me know if you get stuck
