Me and a friend are desperate to plan a ride for when the warmer weather comes which would involve an overnight stay. We are on the Staffs/Cheshire border (ST7 postcode) and need to find a route with a suitable place located on the way to camp and turn the horses out. The route needs to be under about an hour away.
If any of you know any good bridleways/ places we could possibly camp or just general tips and personal experiances that would be great.
Am so excited, roll on the summer :)

personally for peace of mind - I wouldnt leave my girl overnight with anything but a good hedge or permanent fencing around her. Houdini!

Try looking for horse friendly pubs or BandB's - You can always ask them to let the horses stay whilst you camp in the tent outside???
Or ask any local riding schools or livery yards - We did this once in the New Forest, a weeks stable and field use, we camped just down the road in a camping site = and great hacking!!! :D

Done travelling holidays in various places and either secure permenant fenced turnouts were arranged with local famers or if this was not possible (or too expensive) then temporary electric fences were erected using a car battery with someone sleeping close by the horses.

Horse friendly pubs or BnB's as suggested sounds like a good idea.

The BHS do a list of horse B & Bs. Contact the Staffordshire BHS bridlepath officer and any local bridleway groups.

Are there any long distance rides in Staffordshire. I think there is the Sabrina Way, but I heard reports that there are some problems along the route (permissive sections being closed for instance).
