Hi Im trying to drum up some support for our Riding Club, Maltby & District we have a planning application in for Change of Use on our land from Agricultural to Equestrian.

We dont need planning to run our shows but it is needed so that Show Jumps and Working Hunter equipment can be left on the field.

We have some oposition from a couple of local people who dont want the Riding Club or Horses in general in their village...

So what I am asking is that for people in the Yorkshire Area would you post us a note of Support to Doncaster Council to ensure that we can carry on running. Without the COU being granted it would make it almost impossible for us to run as there is too much equipment to take on and off for each event.

The more support we have the better.

The local council will be recommending that the application be granted but then there is the planning committee to get past !

If anyone would send a message of support in we would be everso grateful.

This is the link to the planning portal.

Have supported too. All the best.
My lovely late Granny lived in Tickhill (on Pinfold Lane), she was an extremely well known lady throughout the village and I'm sure she would have throughly supported you too.

Have you managed to sort out your traffic issues - which is what they seem to be objecting to? I have to say that I agree that having large numbers of vehicles turn up, park on the road and then unload into traffic - as is claimed happens - seems to be a recipe for disaster.

If you really just need storage (and those were BIG buildings you were after) the way we work for our village fetes (>3000 visitors) is we have two artic trailers with containers on them. They are of course moveable and we store everything needed on them. We do manage the traffic carefully though, and have plenty of parking, we're in our 54th year this year and have had no planning / traffic issues!

I'm also involved with a pony club and again we store all our jumps and equipment to run several shows a year in artic containers, in this case the artic containers are not kept at the show site. When we run shows or camps everything needed is unloaded and taken to the show site. Sure it's hard work but it means we don't have any hassle with planning.

Might I suggest that you get decent advice on the planning - hold a couple of events with proper traffic management and get Mr Tomkinson to witness that there is no traffic problem.

Hi _ we have met with the Highways Department at the Council and they do not have an issue - they also attend our events last year.

last year a horsebox broke down on the road near to the show and the horses were unloaded and brought onto the field for their own safety and comfort. This was a one off occasion and no one unloads on the roads etc as they have no need to and the car park is adequate enough for everyone and we have volunteers who do the parking for us. I have since met with the highways since they added their comments and they are satisfied that we are managing traffic appropriately and safely - the comments that he made were based on a letter about the above horsebox breakdown so that matter is now fully addressed

It isnt the storage so much but the ability to leave the show jumps on the field in the summer - as with most riding clubs volunteers arent always in abundance and so is would be a nigh on impossible task to remove all the equipment everytime. The buildings we asked for last year were 1 portacabin on runners and a storage container - again on runners that could be lifted off - they werent huge and would have been screened by natural hedging.
