Right...
As you may know, I am opening a fantabulous yard in September! The yard itself is currently run by some lovely friends who I have worked for as the "lie in and holiday person" for about four years, and whom I bought my mare from.
These wonderful people are giving up stud work after twenty years, and made the tough decision to put their beautiful boy Arnold to sleep a few weeks ago, because they couldn't justify spending money on livery (they will both be working full time from September, not with horses!) for a horse who was essentially useless.
Long story short, Arnold was a stunning liver chestnut TB ex racer - born in South Africa, exported to America, then to this country where he broke down very badly on both front legs. They spent 18 months nursing him back to health, but the trainer and owner agreed that it would be cruel to run him again, so gave him to L. However, after three months he developed intermittent lameness in all four legs - countless trips to the vet showed nothing physically wrong, so he was retired and put onto Bute, the plan being he would live out his days with them being pampered. He was a horse in a million, and the decision to put him to sleep must have been so hard for L to make.
SO...
my horse will be living in his stable, and I want to put a plaque up to let everyone know that a very special horse lived there...but I can't think what to say!! Any ideas??
Serious amounts of the cheesecake I just made to all who got this far!
