at the vets recently for annual vaccs the vet noted a bit of plaque build up around the gumline on my 10yro sprockers teeth & suggested I start brushing his teeth, well I've tried a few times now & he's clearly having none of it, he now won't even let me look in his mouth without growling at me & that is just so not like him - he's mummy's boy through & through, but he is also the biggest wimp I've ever come across
so might be he's a bit sore .He's on a raw diet & has chicken wings & duck necks daily to help his teeth . I've been looking at additives for his food or water, has anyone any recommendations that have helped clean plaque?

I use Plaque Off powder. I feel it softens any plaques so they come off more easily. If I've forgotten to brush the dogs teeth for a bit, I start of by just applying Logic toothpaste for a few days rather than brushing.
Mine is quite obliging and lets me break off plaques with my thumb nail- had to put up with it for years though!

If the plaque is thick enough and you can get behind it on the gum line, buy some little wooden tooth stick things and try and flick it off. Also a plastic cuticle nail tool is good.
I use the Cleany teeth system in the salon but with some, the thick plaque actually flicks off easily.
That is if he will let you near his mouth!

I use stomadine toothpaste. Its meaty flavoured and sticky so you put it on the gums and massage them. My spaniel has only about 6 teeth left, she makes massive amount of plaque and came to me with a mouthful of loose teeth,. bleeding gums, missing teeth. I use a childs toothbrush, but cant get to the back of her mouth as shes not keen. I think she will lose the rest of her teeth . But if you can catch it earlier this stuff might work
