Why has TopSpec changed to using plastic bags from paper ones? When they were contacted about it they said it was for convenience and that no one else had questioned them. I am so horrified by the amount of plastic bags generated by my horse feed purchases that I feel I should try to only buy from companies that use paper. Anyone tried anything packaged in paper that resembles UlsaKind?

I asked my feed merchant this and she said it was because they couldn’t recycle the paper ones as it was the printed shiny paper , but the new bags are 100% recyclable . I thought the same as you why on earth have they gone from paper to plastic but that’s what she said So who knows! just thought it was odd it was just the ulcer kind aswell!

We use Allen & Page which supplies in waxed paper sacks that are acceptable to the recycling in Surrey. They do an ulcer specialist feed - Sooth & Gain. I've never fed it - but the feed sacks are recyclable here at least!

Thanks, Shay, for the heads up re Sooth and Gain. Allen and Page are great. I’m definitely going to stop buying feed in plastic bags, wherever possible and shall tell the manufacturer why. We used to recycle the Ulsakind bags before they moved to plastic and it’s irresponsible to go from perfectly adequate paper and recyclable packaging. Who is it convenient for I wonder? Maybe it’s cheaper?
