I'd like to get a few of the little ones to do gridwork with but was a bit taken aback at how much the Polyjumps ones cost! Can anyone suggest a slightly cheaper alternative?! I don't need anything special, just plain plastic jump blocks. Thanks!

I got a load of jumps at an agric auction as a RS was closing down....worth keeping an eye out in case

Other than that its either make or bite the bullet, jumps are quite material and labour intensive so you would def save ££ if you could bear to make them, plus save the cost of delivery which can be a lot.

You could get a load of plastic blue fruit juice barrels, drill holes in them to attach jump cups - would work up to about 1m. Plastic drainpipes with coloured sleeves on them (sleeves v cheap from Robinsons) can work (in theory they might shatter but Ive never had it happen).

Heres some info on how to build more traditional style of wooden jumps - its a US site but all relevant

Buy christmas tree plastic bases (not stands) when they are vv cheap after Xmas, fill with sand and put drainpoles in them to act as jump stands. add cups.

For £4.49 you could get book on making your own jumps

hope this helps!!
