Went down to field today and found a newly born leopard spotted filly in field with my mare.

Rather shocked as she had a late foal last year before we brought her (she wasnt meant to have been put back with stallion). We had her about a month after she had gave birth to her colt and she had been seperate to my stallion all winter.

I can only think that she had been in contact with stallion at old yard. But our stallion had sneaked out his field in the spring and had been caught covering her so i thought she would be due for march.

Hadnt had her scanned as wasnt fussed whether she was or wasnt in foal. Had preffered her not to be as didnt want another late foal.

She had been looking quite big but she is a big mare anyway and with the size of my stallion i thought would be a big foal. Hadnt been down field or week as mum been having car problems and friend had been checking on them.

Was a lovely suprise anyway and mare and filly are doing fine.

Didnt manage to get any pictures as stallion was getting jealous of baby getting all the attention and wanted all the fuss himself.

Will update with pics soon!
