Please advise me on a microchip reader

I'm looking at buying a scanner, but didn't want to spend huge amounts of money. Could any one advise on one.
Or is this one any good for horses?

There are 2 different types of chip FDX and HDX most scanners only read one of these which to be fair is the chip which is pretty much always used in domestic animals and usually horses too. The scanners that do both are very expensive, but they will scan the livestock chips too.

The link you've done is one that scans one of these, and is commonly used for domestics/horses.

Can I ask why you are after one????

Hi many thanks for that, I occasionally buy and sell and passports now days don't need markings on as long as chipped so without reading chip I have no proof pony matches passport and I don't always get them vetted.

I once borrowed a scanner like the one in your link and it was useless. You had to work in small circles until it picked up the chip and with a fidgeting youngster, it wasn't as easy as it should be.

I bought one of these and it's much more sensitive
