Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on here so this is quite strange and i'm not really quite sure of how to word it all but here goes..

Basically one of my mares is undergoing a stifle operation this monday 9th December (I know thats soon but I've had no laptop to post from) and we keep them on our own land, its a very basic set up, field, 3 stables no arena, only lights are in stables etc. so our vet has recommended (and we agree) that in the 6 weeks after her operation that we put her on livery at another yard, preferably a rehab yard that is used to this kind of care, she will have to stay in so a yard where there will be some other horses staying in to keep her company will be ideal. The main reason we want to put her on livery is so that there will be somewhere safe with lights where we can walk her out, whereas where she is now she is VERY attached to my other horses, and would quite happily drag me around the field to go and see them, she's sweet just very hot headed and a proper yard would be the best option.

We are based in Stockport SK4 and aren't looking for somewhere not too far away, our vet has recommended new barn farm in chelford but that is a bit too far away for us, she also recommended pear tree farm in mottram-in-langendale i think it was but i don't have the number so if someone does could they please send it me? any recommendations are welcome and we would start thinking about travelling if the place is right, i just want to know my little girl is going to be looked after and i need somewhere where she will hopefully stay calm and theres somewhere safe to walk her out, thank you.

I could recommend New Barn Farm. It is very well run by Pam Rigby who has run a successful riding stables for many years. She specialises in short term stays. It should not take too long to travel from Stockport.

At Arley Moss Equestrian there is a rehab specialist called Kerry Hartley. There are brilliant facilities and it is very easily accessible by motorway so wouldn't take too long to get there from Stockport. Kerry used to be based in Gloucestershire but has now moved to Cheshire, she is great.

I'd third new barn - I've known Pam for at least 35 years (scary thought) and there isn't many better horse persons or genuine people out there. My horses stay there when I'm on hols... It's not flash but has a big indoor for walking in the rain! And Pam has such a wealth of knowledge and experience

Thanks everyone, I may go with new barn farm and talk friends and family into driving me out there to visit her as unfortunately I don't drive, I will give them a ring today and see what they say:)
thanks sallyg I know Arley Moss my pony used to be kept on there when she was out on full loan, did not know they did rehab! That isn't all that far away either so may see what they say as well.
and thanks tankgirl1 but somerford is where she is having her operation and it is just too far:/ It is 25 miles away, and still takes 50 minutes one way even when there is no traffic.

I am more than happy to hear any more recommendations, I did think about Lowerdale farm in Marple as I go to college in Marple and as far as i know it isn't that far away, I've heard its a very well run yard but the let down would be that they don't have experience in equine therapy or rehab

Thanks again everyone.
