I had to get the vet out to my horse today. He came in last night with some grazes and a slight swelling of his knee and lame in trot.I kept him in expecting maybe a little more swelling this morning due to him being in and was greeted with a knee the size of a football and a horse who could barely walk. I put him out in part of the school so he couldn't run around but to see if moving around on it would reduce the swelling and called the vet.He came out and agrees with me that it is a knock of some kind.I think as do other liveries that he got himself stuck in the grass roller that had been left in the field by the YO and caught his knee trying to get out. Candy is now on 4 days box rest, bute and cold hosing with short walks in hand or turnout in a small area he can't run around in.The vet says the next 2 days are crucial to the healing process and if he gets worse in that time he will need to come back out and if in 4 days it is not improving then he will need further investigation as to whether there is possibly a chip to the bone in his knee. Please send us some good luck/get well vibes.I think he may well need them and right now I could certainly use some hugs as I am worried sick.
