As the title says please can someone give me instructions on how to hot rag a horse as I have entered a RC dressage and need to give my girl a good clean up but am loath to wash her as she is not clipped and will take a while to dry & I do not feel happy about hosing her with cold water in this weather.
Many thanks

Hot water, dash of dettol/hibiscrub/lavander wash/vinegar, face flannel, swish round, wring out and lots of elbow grease! Repeat. Thermatex when finished et voila!

Better to do after you have ridden when horse is warm, hotest water that your hand can cope with and add a bit of dettol and a drop of baby oil, teatowel size cloth wring out well and do circular movements all over horse rinsing cloth every so often

Thank you both. Is it cheating to use marigolds ? or is there a risk of the water being too hot then ?

No, that will be fine Supersally - just make sure the cloth/sponge is well wrung out and it will be cool enough. I always used to hot rag and then strap dry - really works!
