Please can you help suggest a feed for my friends horse...

My friend has a 15hh nf x tb. This is her first winter with him and she is unsure what to feed. He's 6 years old, seems to be a good doer. Can get a tiny bit fizzy when ridden. And is only hacked 2-3 times a week. I have my ideas but would like to hear what others suggest. Thank you.

Firstly does he actually need a bucket? Or is he being fed for the sake of it? If he needs a bucket, how about chaff, beet and something like Allen and Paige C&C it conditions but does not fizz them up. There is also Safe and Sound, which maybe okay, I have never used it.

Baileys Lo-Cal Balancer - 2 mugs a day. Add 1/2 scoop of chaff such as Alfa-A Lite and that will be plenty!

if he's a good doer then he shouldn't need anything more than this. If he starts to loose weight you can re-examine his diet then.

Good quality haylage and perhaps a handful of Hi-Fi lite and a chopped up apple if you really feel the need to "feed". Monitor how the horse does and go from there.

I feed Dengie Hi-Fi molasses free with balancer as I found mine got fizzy on Alpha A. I'd feed a small amount of something like this and be careful to avoid molasses if your friend's pony can be fizzy.
