This word crops up a lot in descriptions of horses (mostly 'for sale' ads) but I'm never quite sure what it means exactly.
I know 'forward going' can mean different things to different people, is it the same with 'kickalong' - which to me suggests you have to work harder than the horse when requesting it to move.?

Funny how people perceptions differ! I know a lot of event horses who are referred to as kickalong, because they don't take a hold and just mosey along, doing the job they're there to do.

We have one who I would describe as "kickalong"
He isn't the fastest, but kick him and he'll walk, kick again and he'll trot, kick again and he'll canter! Point him at a jump and kick and he'll jump it! He's perfect for adult novices, so really useful in a riding school.

Kick along.. If you want to go along, you have to kick it...

A horse that requires re-schooled to actually respond to the leg. A horse that will stop moving when you stop nagging, has been taught that nagging means go forward, and no aid means stop...

Maybe ok for Lead rein pony, or when something very safe and secure is required.

Awful phrase!

Push button is also annoying, however with that id expect that when you ask for an upward transition, say walk to trot, that it stays trotting till you say otherwise. Different from a kick a long.
