Hello everyone, I am quite new to this forum, and have read numerous posts about 'Trolls'. Looked at the one about 'Sick Horse' on the vet, how can you tell this is by a 'Troll'. I read it and couldn't for the life of me understand how you can tell.

Can someone please explain to me so that I don't answer these posts.

Trolls are people who like to wind up others. They tend to use language, or a line of attack that is aimed at winding up the readers.

Bad trolls. Do not feed the trolls (they bite your fingers off!). Send them back to under their bridges

It's difficult to spot in some cases, but these posts usually are by people with almost no posts to their name, and either their story sounds impossible to be true, or they are re-visiting a topic about which members have strong feelings either way by posting something that will get someone's back up in an attempt to get them to rise to the bait.
If you find yourself saying 'how odd' or 'oh no not that topic again' I just check the number of posts and if in single figures ignore.

Mrs Mozart thanks, but can you explain to me me why the one in 'Vet' section, called 'sick horse' is a troll. How can you tell. I know I am probably being a bit thick, but I just don't get it. Don't want my fingers biting off, they come in quite useful sometimes.

I have a mere 79 posts to my name. Hope it's not the case that the majority of HHO members open a post from a relatively newbie and judge the book by its cover, ie, have troll checking/troll alert at the front of their mind before they even begin to read what might be a long post genuinely asking for help/advice. Sad state of affairs if that's the legacy that the true trolls have brought to here...

or am I being too sensitive?!

Your being too sensitive..

The posts are usually read, then its would be decided weather its worth replying or not. You can tell when people are here to cause a rucus, its easy to spot and certain 'types' of name keep popping up. You'll get used to the idea!

This is why I think TT on the 'numpties shouldn't school' and '£20K horse with sarcoids' is a troll - look at it, fits every criterion, and her developing 'persona' (Susan Pyke from the Jill books) is a load of piffle. Even her name is bound to wind some people up.

Have been reading various posts and one jumped out at me. Has anyone else read 'feel fed up' on the 'soapbox' I noticed no-one has replied to this. Shoot me down in flames if this is genuine, and I apologise if it is, just didn't seem right to me. If this horrible, horrible story is indeed true, I really am very sorry for all concerned and feel terrible for doubting it.

That person's previous posts do seem rather.....strange.....for an adult on a horse forum
