Please please tell me that a mare can NOT be in season if she is in foal??

(or have i just made a complete ass of myself?)

Um she sort of can actually I believe! Not a regular season as such but be very flirty etc with boys and appear to be seasonal.

Has she just been covered cos if she has its unlikely shes in foal, if shes suspected to be further on then it is poss she is showing these signs and in foal.

i do not have a clue when she was covered. The mare was bought a few weeks back (not by me) and is in a state her belly is pretty big, i suggested she needs some good worming, they say no she is just in foal.

state being hips and spine/ ribs sticking out.

i have never heard of a mare showing a season while in foal. you learn something new every day

Whoever has bought her in a poor condition and doesnt think worming is appropriate, is either naive or stupid. She may not be pregnant but look like she has a huge belly due to lack of fat and muscle. And as you suggest, worms.

well to me either is possible or both! I think they need a vet out! worms sound most likely in a mare of poor state unless she has actually been confirmed in foal.
