hi everyone, i would really appreciate some advice about a little dilema i have :-) i have a cob mare who is rising 5, i am going to have to move her by the end of the month to my grandma's field as due to financial pressures i can no longer keep her on livery. she is currently at a yard with individual turnout and this suits her well as at our previous yard she was turned out with a big herd in a 30 acre field and developed severe seperation anxiety to the point where she was impossible to catch and no one could ever get her out of the field. this was cured when i moved to my current yard and she was taken out of the herd situation.
the problem is that in my grandma's field there is an 8 year old shetland gelding and although he is kind and quiet tempered he can be very very clingy and when, in the past, any other horse has shared his field he clings to them all the time and goes hysterical when they are taken out of the field. i am therefore worried about my mare sharing a field with him, (due to the fact that she has suffered seperation anxiety in the past) in case it all starts up again and she becomes unmanagable. what can i do? would splitting the field into 2 sections and keeping one pony in each section help? or any other ideas?
Many thanks
