Hello

I have recently bought my first horse and wondering what the best cooler rug is on the market?

Which rugs do people use? Whats been the best? Did you chose it for price or effectivness? And rugs you would recommend to stay away from?

Hope you can help, any advice is welcome!

Thank you in advance.

:)

The best one i've found is the weaterbeeta. Its mesh ouside with a half fleece lining, which wicks the moisture from the horse. Not particularly cheap (about £35) but you'll only need to buy one, Hope this helps.

Shires thermocell is fab. I had one and it was a little small aO sold it to a friend and treated Emil to a proper thermatex. Wish I hadn't bothered the shires was just as good!!!

I have tried various ones - did not rate the masta cooler.
I did get an Amigo fleece cooler off ebay for £4 and that works brilliant. When my big lad came in wet on sunday after a full on downpour it dried him off in 1/2 hour. works well as a cooler as it wicks the moisture away to the top of the rug, leaving the underside dry :O)

Depends what you want it for tbh . . . and what horse you have/level of work.

In cool/cold weather, if my sport horse has sweated up or had a bath I find a decent fleece or a thermatex works great.

When it's warm/hot, particularly when I'm travelling him, I find a mesh cooler works better.

Hope that helps.
