thanks xx

If you have post and rail a strand of plain wire about an inch above the top rail can really put them off and there are various bitter paints and horse poo in water painted onto the wooden surfaces stopped my youngster eating ever bit of wood in sight!! Disgusting but very cheap and worked well! Good luck

we have a electric wire running along the top rail of our post and rail fencing. They do occasionally have a go at the bottom rail but very occasionally.

Just remember it could be because they are lacking something nutritionally, or behaviour-wise (horses need to chew for many hours per day, is it possible or practical to up their forage/make it last longer?) and it could be a stereotypical behaviour (stable vice) which might be caused by stress - so look at the way you manage them too to see if you can reduce anxiety/stress. It could also have been developed in previous home and have formed a habit now - so best to use methods to prevent it happening as well as looking at all this
