for about 2 months now my horse has been jumping out/going under the wire of his field. the grass is not bad, and his field is around half an acre (at a rough guess, used to get strip grazing but used it all up) and he's on his own.
the fencing around the edge is 5/6 foot wide, pretty high with 3 wires deep so its impossible for him to duck under. hes not skinny or underweight in the slightest...please help, i'm starting to worry that he's gonna end up on the road :( or even worse, his legs tangled up in the fencing.
i'm at uni atm, but my mum sent my this pic of the fencing... !!

well I have a houdini extrodanaire, he just walks through anything so

I have post and electric string, the perimeter is put in just under 5ft and tripple strung to the top, and then a foot inside is posted again with a double string, which is electrified, and this works!

and sorry but mine would snigger into his hoof if he saw yours, and waltz straight through

my horse likes to do this very occasionally when hes bored, in the middle field and wants to visit the sheep. Luckily its all my own land so its not too much of an issue. He has friends by the way but he likes to do things because he can.
I'd say first get him a companion, if theres a small hairy thing that doesnt require rugs chuck it in... even provide small hairy thing with own small paddock so they can still get away but chat and groom if they want to?
If thats not possible maybe a haynet and a treat ball?
Last resort make the fencing higher but thats not really solving why your horse wants to get out.
Good Luck!
