I need an exercise sheet for when I'm riding my lad outside and hacking. Most importantly I'm looking for something that doesn't flap around at all as he hasn't had one before.

I've tried all my local tack shops etc the last few weeks but they are constantly sold out!

Therefore I have had to resort to looking online but it is impossible to tell from the write ups weather they will flap around or not.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

It doesn't need to be hi-vis or anything as we do all our hacking off road and he already is lit up like a christmas tree!

If it makes a difference to your recommendation he is a 16hh warmblood

I have a lovely Horseware Newmarket competition sheet. It is fab. Doesn't blow up as it is such good quality and the filet string isn't set too high. Expensive, but looks fab!

My wool newmarket stripe is probably the best for not flapping since its a bit heavier than fleece/ waterproof, the waterproof ones can rustle a bit too. I keep forgetting to put a fillet string on with it but it doesnt seem to flap even when doing canter/gallop work out hacking, I think because it sits well the wind doesnt get under it on top of the buttocks which make a big difference :). Its also pretty :D.

kittyb - yes - that's the one!

Ooops, sorry - mine is the first one. It has a cut away bit around the saddle - it just lays under the saddle flaps.

I have a couple of Horseware ones - a fleece Newmarket-striped one (in blue to go with my grey connemara ;) ) and the other a waterproof one with a fleecy lining and reflective strips. Neither flap and seem to do their job keeping my boy warm :)

I've got 3 Horseware exercise sheets, the Newmarket one and two different styles of waterproof, one with fleece inside and one with a tartan wool lining. None of them move very much but the one with the wool lining doesn't move at all and doesn't make any rustling noises at all.

I bought a wrap around your legs/saddle flaps one from Equi-theme on eBay. Thick, lovely quality fleece ad the best bit was that it was only £18 brand new! They do lots of lovely colours too.

It doesnt tend to flap as the fillet string is quite short. However- it will flap a little in very windy weather- but then i guess most will! (think of it as a de-sensitising exercise!)

Im sure you could sew a small weight into a pocket on the inside if it bothered you that much?

I just brought a coolex one off of eBay as I had exactly the same problem. My mark todd one lifts and flaps about and my gelding really freaks. Rode him in the coolex one tonight and it didn't move and my boy was more than happy

I use thermatex and coolex wrap round ones for warming up at competitions, they don't move even when jumping, but have a Rambo waterproof ride on one and a Whitney Newmarket one for cold hacks
