Please help me dehair my horse....any tips?

I had seen an advert for a back pack groomer - basically a hoover you wear as a rucksack. It gave me an idea:o

I did this for a friend but you might as well get a laugh at it - its working amazingly well - a rough up with a rubber curry to loosen the thick mud then away you go!

I know this will sound petty but my horse wasn't clipped last winter due to living out 24/7 and not needing it......but now i have the tedious task of brushing away the hair while he moults.
I end up looking like a bear, being covered in his hair especially if there is a breeze, the concrete floor looks like it has a rug on it and he has a two tone effect with the hair that lies on his rump!
I haven't had an unclipped horse since i was a kid and forgot what it is like, i swear he has too much hair for a WB!

Does anyone have any handy hints on making this process easier or do i just sit it out??
I have toyed with designing a horse size walk through hoover, a bit like a car wash.....:p

You may joke, but we used to hoover our driving horses. They used to live out all year round so we did not clip them and we used to do funerals and weddings etc in the winter, so we used an industial strength hoover and the horses loved it ( it gave them a good massage!)

I think one the donkey's would be more suitable, my 16.1 is patient but i'm not sure he'd like them hanging off his saddle!
Hmm could even get a poo pick out of them...this is getting better!

Another fan of the Furminator here, and with a Highland pony to deal with I feel pretty qualified on the subject of hair. It is brilliant and she is almost completely in to her summer coat already

i know you have mostly recommended the furminator but when i search online there is only one place selling it that cheap (£5 roughly) everywhere else is at least £20.....hope it is the real thing!

Just buy a large wide tooth comb, just as good and about 50p. I combed out armfuls yesterday as old mare is 1/4 exmoor (rest is TB, but the exmoor bit produces a phenominal coat :D )

Looooove the Dyson video! If I tried to vacuum Belle, I'm pretty sure the last thing I'd see would be her heading off into the distance never to be seen again. Great idea though!

Sadly, Arnie has long since given up with my grooming methods:o. He just stands and looks disgusted. Funnily enough, I have a real bother getting an ordinary brush anywhere near his head??

He also loves being jetwashed;)
