Hi all,

I'm currently saddle hunting for me Welsh Cob. It's driving me mad! I am looking for a 17" generous wide / extra wide. Heard lots of good things about the Wintecs, Albions etc. but finding it impossible to find a secondhand one in my price range (£400). Other than looking on ebay, I'm out of ideas. Not got a huge amount of time to visit loads of tack shops. Are there any other websites I should look at. I really want to get one soon as I'm borrowing one from a friend currently and it's not 100% good fit.

My Welsh cob has a Wintec Isabel Werth dressage saddle with interchangeable gullet (in wide / x wide). I absolutely love it. Being a bit round, horse was quite difficult to find a suitable saddle for but this fits really well and has helped my position no end! Not sure if you're bothered whether you have leather or not but if you don't mind synthetic, you'd definitely be able to pick up a good second hand one within your price range. E-bay is definitely a good starting point.

Thanks all! Fiona, I've heard great things about the Isabel Werth saddle, so this is a definite contender. I've got rid of 'wide' on my ebay search and am now finding more (of course due to the changeable gullet, I just need to find a 17" so should be easier). :D

I got my Ideal Jessica for £400 on eBay. Saddle fitter confirmed it was in excellent condition and it has been a lovely fit. I am shopping for another, but for some reason m/W doesn't come up very often, all the ones on at the moment are W or XW. Apparently they can also be altered by one size by a fitter.

ETA - I search for "Ideal Dressage" or "Ideal Saddle". Lots of people only put size in the body text, you can actually get bargains that way as they don't come up on other folk's searches so don't get many bids :) Also worth looking at Preloved as well as eBay.
