I need to find a new job but there seems to be nothing good around :( I was thinking of puting an add on nfed but am not very good at writing stuff down so it sounds good (due to being dyslexic) and i want my ad to be taken seriously as i realy need a new job. Please can someone help me write an add. I don't want to look like an idiot.
I'm 27 and have loads of expereance. I have worked in a riding school, on a livery yard, with int 3 day event horses, hunters, show ponies in my current job i'm a nanny/groom doing the kids ponies inclu taking the kids hunting i also do the broodmares, foals and youngstock, I also do the chickens, ducks, dogs and cats. I also have several cleaning jobs and a gardening job. I can break young horses and school (although i'm not to keen on jumping ) I am good with problem horses/ponies. I have worked on big yards with lots of staff and have also done a lot of sole charge work. I need to live in and i don't know if i should mention i have two ponies. Only one deff needs to be with me (Lucy obviously) and Herbie could be in a field near by if there is one to rent. I also have a dog. I don't drive but i currently live in the middle of nowhere and don't find it a problem.

See i told you i'm rubbish at this. Prity please if someone can make any sence of my rambeling and turn it into a decent advert for an employable groom can you help me. I'll love you forever and will be in your dept.
Thankyou in advance if anyone can help. Unless i'm beyond help :p ;) :D :D

Sorry it's a bit late for my brain to help...but have you looked on yardandgroom.com? I tend to come across a lot of grooms jobs, quite a lot having accommodation on there?

Not to far as i have an OH now. It was sooooo much easyer when it was just me and Lucy i could just move anywhere. :( Now i need to be in Hants, Dorset, Wilts kind of area. Although if it was a job where OH could live in to either as a handyman type person or have a different job then we could look further afield. If that makes any sence

For an advert how about (bear in mind I have no experience of this sort of ad, just rephrasing the info you've given):

Experienced groom looking for live-in work in Hants, Dorset, Wilts, pref. with option of livery for own horses. Varied employment background including riding schools, livery yards, Int. eventing yard, hunting and show yards. Also undertaken childcare, cleaning, gardening and poultry management. Experienced at working in a team and individually. Currently hold a NVQ in etc etc (sorry can't remember all your qualifications!).

Maybe would be useful if someone with a yard/ employees on here could tell you what sort of thing would attrack them to an advert?

No probs, I get exactly the same thing when I'm riding (or doing pretty much any sport for that matter) I know what I want my body to do, and yet it just doesn't quite happen!

Good luck with the job hunt!

Try Careergrooms.com
I advertised on there and within 24 hours had had offers from 13 people wanting a groom - all over the world!
It's a shame you don't drive, as you sound perfect for the job I'm leaving in September - would you be willing to take your test and then take an HGV test? The boss would pay for you to do you HGV. Only space for one horse of your own, but lovely DIY yard about a mile away where I keep my youngster. PM me if you'd like more info.

Hi Laura, I saw this thread this morning, but didn't have time to reply before work so came on now to offer some help with your ad - but it sounds like juventino would be far more help with advertising and recruitment experience. But do let me know by PM if you would like anything looked at.

Best of luck x.

Hehe I love the term 'poultry management' just imagine an office manned by ducks and chickens and someone sitting behind a desk in the middle hiring and firing! lol
On a serious note I found an amazing job in H&H online it was an older advert but still needed someone, also you may wish to put the word out with the pony club especially in the Old Berkley and Beaufort (sp) area.
