Hi! I am a final year bio-vet student at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London. My dissertation is about the effect of exercising, diet and worming management on the incidence of spasmodic colic. The collected data will be very helpful for equine researchers to formulate some potential factors that give rise to having spasmodic colic, so as to establish some preventive measures and potential solutions. Attached below is the link to my google form/questionnaire with four separate sections, and it takes around 5-10 minutes to complete. This survey will be done anonymously and responses are kept completely confidential. The data collected will be analyzed and used solely in this research report. If you have more than one horse, with or without the history of spasmodic colic, please fill in a separate questionnaire. If it doesn't cause any inconvenience, please also forward this survey to your horse-owners friends! Your contribution means a lot to the community and I thank you in advance for your help and support!!!

I started and managed to get through the first page, even though there is no options for a horse who hasnt had colic, but I gave up completely on page 2 when I got to the question about exercising. I cant quantify what I do as each time is different. You also asked to specify how much time in each pace, then how much time in other to include dressage and jumping which makes no sense. So sorry, I tried but I couldnt face more questions like that

Thanks for your attempts and I really appreciate you taking extra time to complete my survey. I have made an extra note to owners of horses without colic base on your opinion! Also, I understand you have an unstable basis of exercising regime. It does not have to be exact, just an approximate number per week will do. If your horse does not engage in dressage or jumping training, I have put down an extra choice for that.

Thank you once again for your opinion! I hope you will be able to finish the survey!

Again I did try to complete it! But as LW says there are no options for horses who have never had colic. For example, question 2.6 ‘After the 1 st episode of colic, did you make any changes to your horse’s management or exercise regime to try and prevent it from happening again?’ you can only answer yes or no. If I put no, I’m saying that my horse did have colic but I didn’t change their regime, when really I’m trying to say that my horse has never had colic so obviously I have not changed my regime in response to it.
And yes I was also a little confused about the exercise question - dressage and jumping isn’t separate to the time spent in walk/trot/canter, it’s a part of it. Maybe it could be a separate question if you wanted to know how much dressage and jumping people do?
I will try again if you put in options for horses without colic - hope it goes well
