My 12 yr old terrier bitch was jumped on by a dog! I got there after about 10 secs but they had locked took about 18-20 mins to get them apart after running under cold water! What should I do? Her last season ended about 2 weeks ago. Is she too old to have pups? she has had pups before - would a litter and this age kill her?

Ring the Vets 2moro.

They can give an injection (in some cases 2 injections are given-48 hours apart)that should deal with the potential pregnancy.

However this injection will also increase her chances of a pyometra (womb infection that can be fatal without surgery) and in a 12 year old entire bitch your already facing that risk so I would strongly advise that you get her spayed as well.Either after the injection has being given and some time allowed for her to leave her season time completely or sooner if you have an willing experienced vet.

get her to the vets for either an injection to prevent pregnancy (but it does bring the heat back on so you will have to keep her away from other dogs for another month!!) or a spey. yes you also have a risk of pyometre! you are best to discuss ALL the options with your vet. pups at 12 could be a risk, and there are so many unwanted dogs around, so unless you are prepared to keep the pups (and neuter them!!!) i would be looking at the other options.

Vet for jag and agree, she is not too old to be spayed, ours took a pyo at around the same age, nearly died, had emergency spay and lived to 14 (which is old for a GSD!)

Hmm just looking at my post again I should probably add that im not trying to put the OP off the Jab...anything but.
I was just trying to point out that her dog is now going to be even more likely to get a Pyo...as listed in the side effects on NOAH

"Owners should be advised to consult their veterinary surgeon if their dog shows the following signs after treatment with the veterinary medicinal product:
-purulent or haemorragic vaginal discharge
-prolonged vaginal discharge lasting over 3 weeks."
Those are some of the warning signs of pyometra....along with vomiting dullness etc

The Allizin injection would still of course be much safer than allowing a 12 year old to have pups!

Would a bitch stand, and would a dog be interested and tie to a bitch that wasn't in season as op states?

Or do you mean 2 weeks from onset of season and not from season finishing, op?

Regardless

My previous staffie did the same. As she was a young rescue my vet wanted her to have a season to a, know she had had one and b, get the timings right. She had seemingly finished her season, came down to the yard a week later and was bonked by the yard lab within 20 mins. Went straight to the vets the following day and was speyed immediately.

Being as bitches lose colour in the discharge when they are "ready"..maybe she knew best! However,I`ll relate a true story to show the ways and wiles of dogs. I boarded a pair of neutered bull teriers..neither were known to be at all interested in each other, ever. I took them down with me to the big orchard run whilst I "picked up", turned my back..bingo,not only tied but turned as well. Now bull terrier boys are not usually that good at it,and turning is difficult..but this virgin dog did it all fine. Without going into huge detail..where on earth did he put it all? There`s a lot of "dog" and not a lot of "bitch parking space" after a spay.
They merrily went home and continued the habit ,mostly when visitoprs came:D:D

agree with previous advice, get her jab'd and then spayed, at 12 she is really old but your vet will advise.

Note. Bitches will not stand and dogs will not mate when a bitch is not in season, also they will not tie. Two weeks after a season starts a bitch will stop losing colour this is when she is ready, it varies between 10 and 19 days after the first show

good luck
