Hope someone can help - so many shoppers and fashion people here.

I'm going with some friend to Mussleburgh races on Saturday, Edinburgh cup day. We haven't got hospitality, but bog standard tickets and none of us have a clue what to wear!.

Googling doesn't help, been getting a mixture of very dressy, dresses and shoes, etc as well as advice to wear casual, comfy, jeans & smart top type clothing.

Please help!.

Anything - some go all out despite having standard tickets, lots just wear jeans and wellies! I'd go smart jeans, nice jacket/coat and either paddock boots or similar ankle boots.

As Ignition said - it really depends on what you want. Some go super smart, others just jeans and t-shirts. I usually like to make a bit of an effort i.e. smart trousers /skirt, pretty top - its nice to look semi-decent around horses for a change. Make sure whatever you wear its a) warm, b) sensible shoes as you'll be standing all day. Stopping now because I feel like my mum (don't forget your hanky!).

Some parts of racecourses do not allow access if you are wearing jeans so perhaps smart trousers instead. Our local courses normally have a variety of everything from Saturday night's party gear/hen night outfit downwards or upwards depending on how you look at it. Personally I am normally dressed for warmth even in mid summer! Hope you have a good time.

Thanks guys. I checked & musselborough don't have a dress code, so jeans would be ok. I think I'll opt for smart dark jeans, then I can wear sensible boots and a pretty top. Best of both worlds!.
