We brought a cob x dales on the 9th march 2008 she was a black with 3 white socks and a white blaze 14.2 hands 2 white socks on front legs and one on the back leg her mane falls both sides she is 11 years old now her name is Polly
We brought Polly of a man called john Webb from the Kent area and paid cash for her
On the 12th July 2008 we were putting Polly in an area with 4 other horses because there is a boot fair on the field on Sundays we did this at about 5pm on the next day we went back to the horses at 10am to find one was missing and notice the electric fence had been cut. Polly also loves to play with her bit she will put it under her tongue as well
We reported this to the police strait away CRIME NUMBER CY-11650-08
Then on the 15th July 2008 all of Polly tack was stolen and the electric fence this was also reported to the police.
We later found out that Polly was given to Canterbury horse rescue by the previous owner she gave them 2 horses because she was pregnant this was on the 2nd February 2008 so they should never sold Polly on to john Webb
Both horses where microchip
We got a email from the previous owner
Polly`s original passport is with weatherby's and the number is 826 048 000 003 234 that is all I have on her passport as it was given to Canterbury horse rescue but when I checked it in October it was still in my name. Her micro chip is with id chip telephone no 01904487600 which was also in my name when I checked in October; I gave them both to Canterbury horse rescue on sat 2nd February 2008.

Martelle passport is with pet-id the number is 826 073 003 092 438 and when they called me last week it was still in my name, her chip number is 958 000 000 510 887 and is pet log telephone number 0870 606 6751 and that is still in my name. Pet-id said no other passport has been issued with martelle's chip number.
So I contacted NEDS about this because Polly could be re-pass ported so I got an email from them

I did contact these and got email back from Pet-id and weatherbys that’s all the other never replied to me
I have been put Polly all over the web as well and as it is a year now I won’t stop trying to find her as we would like Polly to come home we miss her so much PLEASE if anyone can help us with finding Polly

We need much more involvement from Police side to sort this one and probably crimes have been committed in more than one Force area.

Can I just clarify how did a horse donated to a charity get sold on to you? Was the horse put out on loan to the man in question - sounds strange to me as the man mentioned is a known 'dealer'/ horse seller? I have had friends with expereince of this charity and have huge concerns about them. PM me for me details.

NEDS what is neds well as far as i can see they dont help at all, all they could come up with is these numbers and organisations which only 2 of them got back to me BUT one of these numbers COULD be our horse who knows ??????

when this happen to us we where very upset and would not wish this upon anyone it is like a never ending nightmare not knowing where she is

I too am a tad confused by this post and I read it over and over!

I wasn't quite sure how all this passport info came about and the ins and outs of exactly what has happened with regards to the horse charity to be honest.

Hope you find your horse though.

In a nutshell:
A -2 horses were sent to Canterbury Horse Rescue, Kent in February 2008 - both with passports, chips etc
B - 1 of the horses was sold to Web (horse dealer) with new passport by Canterbury Horse Rescue- do not know what has happened to the 2nd horse yet
C - Web sold horse on
D - Horse was stolen from new owner
E - Theives returned and stole fencing, tack etc
F - As usual minimal help from any one in authority.

Forgot to say, the first part of the story is from the owner who the horse was stolen from in July and she has then put the contents of an email she received from the original owner with info on original passports in the second part of the story.

hope snowy's post helped, basically i believe the rescue centre is taking horses on from people like myself who are trying to do the right thing for them and re-passporting them so they can sell them on, from info i recieved last week i believe that one of the two horses (not Polly/Crystal or what ever name she now has) was put down as she (Martelle) had medical problems although her passport has not been returned to the issuer which it should have been if she was put down. if you visit http://www.missinghorsesonloan.co.uk/ and click on information needed they are the bottom two posters.

This probably isn't much help finding her, but a friend bought a donkey colt in March who had been imported from Ireland and then passported with the Gypsy Cob society. Basically passport wasn't worth the paper it was written on and the office was based in near Appleby (Appleby horse fair?) as were the people running it. We came to the conclusion the society was being used to re passport horses and sell them on at Appleby.
