Please help!

My new horse is a 20 year old qh X appy. He is western broken but has done english his entire life. When asked to trot he does this hoppy mini buck things and chucks his head to the point where I can’t get him to trot. I tried making him trot on the ground and he did the same thing...so I don’t think it’s the saddle. Anyone got any suggestions??

Maybe have his hocks xrayed. Could be hock arthritis.

Needs to see the vet. did a vet examine him before you bought him?

He’s got a physical problem... vet but at 20 it’s likely to be arthritis.

I'd strongly suspect there's a pain issue somewhere and he's "telling" you something here.

As others have said I'd get vet out to check (plus teeth as well); and physio (plus if you are getting the physio, get yourself checked as well, important this!).

Also saddle check.
