I have spent literally hours on the internet, made hundreds of phone calls (thank you to everyone who I have spoken to), sent dozens of emails and read every single post on here too...

Thanks to all those who posted on my previous threads, I have loved looking through all the stallions suggested and have learned so much too! I now know about breeding stallions I did not know about before and have been completely overwhelmed by the quality out there!

I am ordering the semen today... which is quite scary because it doesn't seem two minutes since I ordered the last lot for Hannah in 2006, and fingers crossed, this time next year we will have a Vivaldi x Weltmeyer x Eizenherz I foal

I know there are no Vivaldi progeny out there competing yet, and this is what I have ummed and ahhed about with him, but his foals have done so well last year that I am pretty confident the assessors know what they are looking for at that age to produce a dressage horse in later years (please correct me if I am wrong).

I think Vivaldi will refine and 'modern up' the mare a great deal and although I love Jazz, I think I have been sensible chosing something with his blood in there but it will not be a direct Jazz decendent. He seems to pass his action and movement onto his foals too out of relatively 'plain' moving mares (and I do not mean this is a derogatory way, it is just the mares I have seen have beautiful paces but not wow paces...). The Weltmeyer mare I am using moves really beautifully, big and loose with a HUGE walk

So, all that remains left to do is keep absolutely everything crossed that she takes and has a healthy foal in 2010...

Good luck getting her in foal

As you know, I'm not a Vivaldi fan, but I think you'll get something saleable and hopefully suitable for what you want to do.

Good Luck, fingers are crossed for you! I'm sure the foal will be lovely

Im the same as Boss and not a fan of Vivaldi Piaffe, as I don't like his action behind at all, it's all in front, flashy and he seems to sort of 'drag' his hindend. But each to their own

If we all liked the same life would be very boring

Wishing you all the luck with this exciting venture hun.

Though I have to be honest and agree with Boss, for reasons already stated by many on here.

However, if you truly feel he will compliment the mare, then that is what is important.

Thanks... I do think he would complement the mare and I actually love his movement personally. As someone said, if we all liked the same thing it would be a very boring place

I also love his foals that he produced last year, I think they look very elegant, uphill and with a super hind leg... what more could I ask for!

The mare has a lovely hind leg herself, so hopefully the two will have something very special... I would rather it not be saleable and then my hubby (who has gone halves with me in this 'investment') will bug me to sell when my plans are to keep it long term

If it is a filly and has a good enough conformation, I would very much like it to become the foundation mare for a breeding programme up here, but we will see

Thanks Teffy... I remembered you said you had been watching him for a while when I first mentioned him back in winter

I know it is a gamble with no proven progeny, but it is a damned exciting one to take

I think he is just fabulous, which is one of the main reasons I am using him. Also, his foalies did very well last year out of relatively 'plain' moving mares (I do not mean that in a bad way, just that they were not powerful and flashy in the trot ups)...

It is being despatched today so the mare just needs to be scanned etc and we are off
