I know these sort of threads are done to death so I apologise in advance but I keep my horseys at home on my own so it is nice to use the forum as a bit of a sounding board.
I have managed too secure some really good winter grazing and am fairly confident the horses are going to get through the winter well...would be interested to know what you all think about Red, he is a 15.3 tb. At the moment he is in what I would call light work and has had 3 weeks off due to a gassy colic episode and my work commitments. We will be keeping him in work over the winter, long slow hacks (2-3 hours) 4 times a week with a view to doing some NCR's in the spring. I know he isnt mega fit but we are working on this! He is out 24/7 and well rugged. The photo with my daughter was taken in sept when he was on very poor grazing but plenty of hay...at the moment while the grass is good he is on grass and hay if he wants in from the floor...hes not touched it yet! and 2 feeds of baileys no2 and a probiotic for his gut as rec' by the vet.

I think you horse looks well now, I don't think you need to add any more weight though. I like the photo with your daughter think your horse was a nice weight in this picture.

Thanks for the reply...I think I would tend to agree with you, its so difficult though as he seems to change how he looks on a daily basis! He certainly looks better when he is in regular work which he will be in from now on...I have invested in alot of all weather gear and have found a really nice lady to hack out with and give me a kick up the proverbial when I am lacking abit of motivation!
