Her name is Honey and she is a Hungarian Viszla X...

She will be 11 weeks old tomorrow..... her mum was a skinny rescue that was booked into be speyed... when she was opened up they discovered 4 pups... she went on to have 3 bitches and 1 dog but unfortunately he was deformed and died....

They think there were two different dads because the two other bitches had blue eyes and looked more like a doberman and a rotweiler.... the one that was left was more lab coloured with green eyes... so they think her dad was possibly a Lab but we will never know...

I intend to take her to puppy classes as soon as she is old enough... she is very intelligent and appears to run on ever ready batteries lol :) the vets had already named her Honey....

Purely for comparison here is our vizsla as a pup- based on the differences, I would say yours is definitely labrador - she is a real and total cutie pie!!

Look at the ears :p

Ours is now 2yrs old and still hasn't 'grown up' yet, so all the very best of luck for the next few years of puppyhood  :D

Naw she is a sweetie! Was mum a vizsla? I would be interested to know more of her story if so, under-nourished rescue vizslas don't come up often, could you pm me if you know anymore info please? I cant see much vizz in her tbh, she looks very lab like. A total cutie pie non the less though! :)

Hi

Well mum was handed in or rescued by the Hungarian Vizsla Rescue... she was I believe an ex breeding bitch - very very skinny and booked into be speyed as I said....they were really surprised to find her in pup. The rescue allowed the vets to organise the homing of the pups as a home was already sorted for the mum... who was 10 years old.... it was the vets that checked me out etc and I had a good reference from one of their oldest clients which helped... I was also shown pictures of all the pups when they were born and I saw the mum and she is definately a Hungarian Vizsla... I was asked to keep in touch with the vets and the nurses as they had fallen in love with the puppies and I have managed to do so which they have really appeciated... looking at Honey now her face is definately longer and her body is very Vizsla like....

She is a very intelligent but demanding pup and I would appreciate any advice on the best training for her..... she is completely spoilt and has added so much love and happiness to our family.....

Haha, yea as Cliqmo says don't expect the demanding side of her to change much! LOL

What a sad story, I'm glad she was dealt with through our rescue organisation, there will probably be a write up on her in the next breed club newsletter.

They are a tricky breed to deal with initially (until you get to grips with the fact what is normal for a vizsla isn't quite what you would expect as normal for another dog!) With lots of physical and mental stimulation they are very loyal and very rewarding dogs.....I would like to make a bet now that you will want a vizsla next time you are in the market for dog, Honey will get you hooked!
Any help and advise you may need with her, feel free to pm me and I will do my best to help. It's never to early to get the basic training under the belt with a vizz, remember give them an inch and they take a mile, set the ground rules now or she will take the pee forever more! Puppy classes/obedience can be good although I have found that once they have learnt what they need to (which they do about 10 times quicker than the other pups) they then will get very bored, whingy and fed up so make sure its a class with a trainer that understands the more 'demanding' breeds and the way their mind works or it will be counter productive. (especially when your more demanding breed looks like a lab...make sure people know she isnt, she certainly won't train like one!!!) :p :D
