YES!! all that will happen is the concrete will rise to the top. Was once at a yard where it was stones directly under the sand and they always rose to the surface

Hi, not read your other posts but sounds to me like you would need another layer of membrane between the crushed concrete and the sand. I am not sure that crushed concrete really is the best thing to use either. I recently had an arena built and they used clean stone so that the water can drain through it! Maybe worth phoning a few companies who do it professionally and asking their opinion?

yes you will definately need 2 membranes one on ground then stone/drains etc then another membrane then surface - I have 2 membranes but put rubbish stone under top membrane and it has ripped through in places and has come to top (have stitched membrane to repair and is ok now) also make sure the crushed concrete wont compact too much as if it does the rain wont soak through and away. I would also say have drains in ground - sooo important if your ground gets at all wet - these were put in channels then covered in stone on mine (not dear to do)

Be careful of what sand you are using - the reason I avoided sand was i couldnt afford the right stuff so had woodfibre which is fab, totally clean and drains (never a puddle or wet bit) but i did hear that beach sand is also vey good (and is very very cheap) I believe its 4 inches sand you need no more then rubber !

Mine cost total of 7k ! 3 years on still brilliant - also had posts round edge and used thick electric tape (see my album )

Good luck

you will need 2 membranes. AND YOU WILL NEED DRAINS. only sand worth putting down is the best silica sand you can afford. it varies enormously in quality and hence price. cheap sand is a big no no as is builders sand (wrong shaped molecules) if you do it on the cheap you will do it twice!!!! reasearch and samples req. Good luck .. a good manege is a godsend but a bad manege is a nightmare..................

I had clean stone put in mine, not crushed concrete. A friend had crushed concrete with no membrane, and the concrete rose to the top.
I also had drains put in mine, a membrane and silica sand and then flexi ride on top of that.

also...do we need to compact the crushed concrete?? x
