I have never used elasticated girths so i am unsure of which one is best. I am worried it will make the saddle slip, but horse doesn't seem comfortable in all of the girths i have tried none of which are elasticated so I am planning on trying one to see if it makes a difference. I seem to remember that the requirement for a good elasticated girth is something to do with the quality of the elastic. i am planning to use one that is elasticated both ends (is that best??) I don't want to spend a fortune as it may not make any difference and will just go into the bag with the other many girths i have accumulated!!!

I have the Old Mill saddlery rip off version of the Professsional Choice VenTech girth. It's half the price and the only difference I can see (I ordered both to compare them side by side) is the colour of the elastic. I like how you can remove the neoprene and fleece pad to wash it easily, it makes sticking it in the washing machine less of an issue with my OH!

My old saddler (who was very forceful in expressing his opinions but usually right!) always said an elasticated girth should be elasticated at both ends or, even better, be elasticated throughout. He was a fan of the Wintec elasticated girth for this reason. I only changed from it as I found the synthetic waffle material was prone to cracking after a while and could get quite sharp.

Harry Dabbs waffle girth (comes in both elasticated and non-elasticated), elasticated both ends. Very happy with it, my saddle fitter likes it too.

I use the Ventec ones on all mine, seem comfortable and dry quickly, you can remove the liner and just wash that and towel dry if needed which is handy.

Have also used the fluffy shires one mentioned above (Arma maybe?), I hate 'fluff' but the horses did seem to like it.
