She is on antibiotics and vet thinks it is gastroenteritis of some kind. No nasty lumps found which is what was worrying me having had the same thing happen with my old cat who had a liver tumour. She is also pretty old as far as mastiffs go. She really was miserable this morning and we had to lift her into the car.
She is already feeling a bit perkier and is getting a bit of appetite back but she isnt allowed anything. So she will be very miserable this evening!
Obviously it could still be something nastier but fingers crossed it isnt. All signs were good. Just got to make sure she doesnt get too dehydrated and watch her carefully.
I think we will need to get the professionals in to clean the carpets though. It was a pretty awful sight to come down to this morning.
She has been bought some special very expensive food from the vets!
(Possibly double the normal price too as it was emergency hours!
)That gives me time to get the chicken and rice sorted!
Cavecanem- we knew our cat had a tumour and had been warned to watch for the very dark vomit which is why I was so worried this morning. We also had a GSD who was out playing one day, the following day was off his food and very sick. The vet gave him 24hrs to live. That was a tumour. If they dont lose weight and dont go off colour it is hard to know.
Yep - Nanci went off her food and didn't want to walk, very suddenly. She was a 'deep' dog anyway and her condition was fab, we had no idea. She was gone two days later.
My two's sire died of a liver complaint quite young too, seems to be getting more common
But at least we both now know what to look out for x
