Can anyone help with my horse's appetite. It knows no bounds. I don't know whether to suppress it or just let her have her head. She gets fat but then works it off and so yoyos in size and weight. I suppose the new grass doesn't help, but should I still be giving her autumn/winter rations?

Personally I don't feed the majority of my horses hard-feeds until the September flush is over. Mine all go onto hard feed some time in October, although some are being fed ie. pregnant one and ones still doing a reasonable amount of work. We have plenty of grass here and all horses are fed ad-lib hay in the field from August through to June. Mineral blocks are in all fields.
