Please someone explain Burghley results to me

I have just looked at the results and I don't quite understand why placings go to 37th and some that were withdrawn before show jumping still get placed and two appear to be eliminated in the show jumping and are placed.
Did two really get eliminated in the show jumping?

i think the 2 that say E in the sj actually failed the 2nd trot up. not sure why they have places

Yeah, the two with E for SJ did fail the trot up this morning.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, BE often make mistakes when putting results up quickly like that!! I'm sure by tomorrow it'll all be changed!!

Maybe if you finish the xc you get placed and get points. I just don't know the rules.

Everyone completing in the top half of starters should get points. With 70 starting this would go down to 35th provided that they completed. BE appear not to have applied the competion rule but I'm sure that they will sort it out at some point.
