I'm thinking of changing from 4x4 and trailer to small box, A, so I don't have to do the trailer test, B, so I can get about by myself easier, C, so I can park it at my home without worrying so much about it being knicked. I would like maximum payload possible as I don't really do overnighters and we have a camper van anyway so what makes etc should I be looking out for and how can you tell how much payload a box will have? Insurance who do you get it through, would it be classed as commercial insurance?

I have a box from Traveltwo, great service, & I love my box! It's a racemaster on a Renault Master chasis.

I swapped from a single trailer & 4x4 and have not regretted it, I have 2 little light horses (400kgs each) so can carry 2 in mine. Payload is about 1100kg (not including fuel & driver) but insist on getting a proper weigh bridge ticket, & note what was in it at time (ie adult make driver & 1/4 tank of fuel)

Insurance is under £300 year, for any driver over 25 & tax is less than my Freelander! :D
