Hi all, I am considering selling my pony, mainly as I am about to loose my riding facilities (pro/RI is moving) and I will really struggle with time to box out. No hacking around me. I had a rough figure in mind but his trainer seems to think was too high. Pony is: 14hh Connemara gelding. Rising 8. Has been professionally schooled 3x/week since he was started at 3. Well established on the flat, works correctly, flying changes good, walk-canter etc. Has done some SJ, pro has taken him out to shows and he won multiple 60cm classes . Hasn't jumped higher than 75cm at this stage. Very quiet, does not spook, good with all the things (C/F/S) more whoa than go. Can be ridden by anyone adapts to the rider however does require correct riding to go nicely. Did get lami when fed incorrectly, fine now, recent hoof xrays good. In full work and shod all 4.
Would appreciate thoughts of a rough value, still haven't made up my mind what to do. Not keen on having him on agistment. TIA!

Your use of the word 'agistment' suggests you're not in the UK as we'd say 'livery'. Where you are might have a considerable effect on his value and our ability to suggest a value as most of us don't know markets other than the UK. Could you let us know please? He sounds lovely though!

Well he sounds very nice. But I have no idea as to possible price.

Pricing horses can be tricky. I know a dressage yard that had a very ordinary horse for sale at £3,000. Quiet to ride and handle just a good all rounder family type horse. No interest.

Advertised it for sale a few weeks later at £6,000 and the phone never stopped ringing and sold very quickly.

Are you part of the Connie page on Facebook? If not, I would go there and maybe do an EOI post. Also try the Connemara Pony Search - Australia and NZ page.
The market is a bit flat currently, especially for ponies. If you can market him more to pony dressage rather than jumping, you may be able to put him up for $20k and see if you have any bites. This may depend on how good his changes are, whether he has some results on board and how well he vets with his history. Good luck!

Yeah I was thinking around 18-20. Thanks, haven't completely decided yet.
