Hi, I am having my first ever attempt at dressage this weekend..and im petrified !! i have been trying to memorise the Intro A test but i am confused by movement 9 ( after the free walk change of rein... turn onto a 20 meter circle in medium walk..then it goes onto say between x and c working trot ) please can someone confirm where abouts this is ? I am totally confused by where abouts between x and c is .. do they mean at H ? Sorry i know i sound dim here.... but i just dont get it !! please if someone can tel me id be so grateful !! x

Hi!

One of my clients did this as her 1st dressage tests last weekend. It is confusing, but basically as long as your transition is anywhere between X and C (i.e on the 2nd half of the 20 metre cirlce) it will be acceptable.

Good luck, it actually rides really well as a test :)

It just means that you have to go into working trot anytime between x (which is the centre point of the school) and c. So basically you have half the circle to get your horse into working trot. It doesn't have to be done at a particular letter. Hope this helps and good luck! :D

oh thanks so much for that ! It was really getting me in a muddle ! I feel much happier now and will go in feeling more brave :) Also put myself in for Prelim 4 ...fingers crossed i dont let my boy down as he is such a star :) x

Just remember to keep breathing! and dont panic if something goes wrong. The last show I went to my mates horse stopped and did a poo in the middle of the test! Very embarrasing but still got a reasonable mark so don't give up if you (or your pony!) make a mistake.

yep, don't worry, staying calm yourself will make it easy to stay calm for your horse! it's a nice test and if anything Prelim sometimes can be easier because there are more things in the test and so the judge sometimes won't notice things :)

Little tip for you to get extra points ;) Make your end salute count.

Don't be embarrassed by it and try and get it over with quickly. 4 fluid movements, hand down, head down, head up, hand up and big smile at the judge regardless off how your test went - it really works! and is respectful of your judge :)

thank you for all your posts ..thats really helpful :) can i ask you if i will be ok in white jods? I was planning on wearing white jods, black jacket, black gloves and long leather boots..but i was told this morning i will be eliminated for wearing white as it is low level dressage and i should be in cream tweed..is this correct ? x x
