Tootled off to the local show yesterday, thought it would be good to do some stuff with him that wasnt jumping, and I wanted some nice pics of him plaited up!

Anyway....he was a gem, though becasue he is a shade under 18hh.....and very narrow....with rather a long head.....he came last. In both classes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However we did get a rosette!

Judge 1 (riding horse) could not get him to canter (its easy he is push button!) and said he was lovely (I knew that) however he was a little green (not with me he isnt!!!!) and a little large for riding horse (Duh!)

Judge 2 (who was a better rider) Said he gave him a nice ride (He rode much better than judge 1!!!!) That he needs to grow up (I knew that....I think he is growing again) AND that it was like riding a razor blade (bloody cheek) and he reminded him of bambi (the cheek....he does not look like a deer!) ....dont think Narrow is the thing to be in a hunter class....though I bet he was the only horse in the class that has actually been hunting!

Sooooo our showing career is over, Bruce clearly isnt wide enough for a start!

What a brilliant post - your horse sounds one of a kind! It's all good experience, though, and something different to try.

I like to think of him as a supermodel, long and slender.....

However he is more like Mr Bean in reality.

Sticking to SJ now!

Razor blade. PAH!

And fancy having to stay clean and tidy all day!

At least he behaved very well, he might need to grow into that big frame a bit more. Is he only young? My worst experience at a show was a hunter judge who clamped his legs onto my very forward going horse when he asked for canter (you only needed to think canter and she did it, no movement of legs required). She was so shocked at the rough treatment she squealed and let out a volley of bucks

. Hunter judge not pleased and we were asked to leave the ring....

Think he does. I am considering putting him out to grass over the summer, as I think he is growing again, and we have no grass.....so I think the grass and some hacking and light schooling might fill him out a bit?

Good idea., I wouldnt right off his showing career just yet. But...still growing???? Just how big is he going to be? (PS a long head can be shortened with the right bridle!)

I know, we measured him at the weekend and we were shocked!

I'm not sure, wb's dont usually stop growing till they are 8ish do they?

I think he needs to fill out.... ALOT!

18hh? He's not that big surely? Was it Bruce you were holding yesterday when I saw you?

Our class was the dullest ever!!! Ty got very bored. We were supposed to do riding horse but missed the class as the other horse wouldn't box.

TBH, I didn't rate some of the judges yesterday......atleast he was a good boy though! x

oh - don't give up - what about young event horse class ?
handsomest gelding ?

you can't just give up on all that fun plaiting - and it must be some box to stand on if he's 18hh !!
